Glen Triplett

Reverend

Reverend Glen Triplett was installed as pastor at Friendship Lutheran Church of Joy on October 21, 2018. Before coming to Champaign, he served the congregation of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Dickson City, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Scranton) for more than 2 years. He was also the vacancy pastor at Scranton’s Peace Lutheran Church. While in Scranton, Pastor Triplett served on the board of the Lutheran Academy and taught Religion and Physical Education at the Academy. He was ordained at his home church, Grace Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 3, 2016. Pastor Triplett received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in the spring of 2016 after completing undergraduate studies at Cincinnati Christian University in 2012.

Pastor is a second-career guy who served in the military straight out of high school, played in rock bands in California, worked in retail, and spent 15 years as a truck driver, but was aware that the Lord had called him to the Office of Holy Ministry since he was 10 years old. He tried to run from this calling and often tried to “appease” God by participating in various aspects of ministry without the commitment of full-time vocation, but, as we say, “His will be done”.

Pastor Triplett is married to Tami, who is a licensed independent social worker (LISW), with a master’s degree in social work. Tami graduated from Xavier University and earned her master’s degree at the University of Cincinnati. She has dedicated her life’s work to preserving and strengthening families. While in Scranton, Tami also served as a teacher at the Lutheran Academy. They have 2 wonderful children (Amber, 33, and Aaron, 21) and 3 delightful grandsons. Amber, Mike, and the boys live in Cincinnati, Ohio. Being closer geographically gives more opportunities for Pastor and Tami to Pastor time with them. Aaron moved to Champaign also and attends Parkland College.

Pastor and his family enjoy spending quality time together, music, their pets (2 cats), sports, exploring the local area and traveling the country (as opportunities arise). Pastor Triplett and Tami have quickly fallen in love with the Champaign area and the congregation, which is so dedicated to friendship and joy that they chose to put these words in the name of their church.
